English for Missions

Mission Statement: Our goal, at English for Missions, is to be able to equip believers with the tools they need to succeed on the mission field. We want to teach English so that there will be more open doors in the mission field. Our heart is to equip students with the ability to understand and apply English in missions in a variety of ways.

About English for Mission: English for Missions school was started in 2011 and has become a permanent school at the Ternopil base. English for Missions is a school for the mission minded; for those with a desire to be challenged to grow spiritually and mentally in a team setting. EFM is a place where students will grow together, work together, minister together, and learn together. At EFM, students will learn English in a fun creative way and leave with the tools to use English in missions.

EFM understands that there is a need for students from non-English speaking countries to learn English. Many students have a desire to be in missions, but feel limited by their lack of English understanding. EFM wants to meet that need and help students fulfill what God has called them to.

There are two goals for this school. The first goal is to teach students all forms of English. We want everyone to be able to succeed in any capacity of using English. The curriculum will include reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar. The second goal is to prepare students to use English in missions. This may include writing support letters in English, reading children’s curriculum in English, and giving testimonies and leading Bible studies in English. The school will be concluded with a short outreach in which students will have the opportunity to use the English they have learned on the field.

The team: The English for Missions team consists of Megan Murray, USA; Allison Kach, Canada; and Joanne de Gruyl, Canada. Each teacher has a TESOL certificate and a love for missions. Megan Murray is a part of the Ternopil staff, while Allison and Joanne are part-time staff who come specifically to help in the English for Missions school. There are also various volunteers from the community who love to teach and help others in their desire to know English.
